Pilates for the Holidays!

Updated: 3 days ago

Certified Pilates instructor leading a group class focused on foundational movement, alignment, and breath.

The holidays can be one of the busiest times of the year, making it easy to fall out of your normal fitness routine. Between travel, family gatherings, and packed schedules, staying consistent can feel overwhelming. If you’re in Jacksonville and looking for a way to stay active during the holiday season, Pilates is a great option. In this post, we’ll share how you can stay consistent with Pilates and maintain your progress, even during the busiest time of year.

  1. Take a Moment to Breathe

Find a quiet moment, perhaps in the morning before rising or during a football game, to focus on your breath. Close your eyes and observe your breathing pattern. Transition to breathing softly through your nose. Aim for a slow, steady rhythm with a five-second inhale and a five-second exhale. Spend five to ten minutes on this exercise, or even a minute or two if time is limited. This practice will help you reset amidst the holiday hustle and bustle.

  1. Engage in a Few Exercises

Time constraints during the holidays may prevent you from dedicating an hour to studio sessions or other workouts. Instead, allocate a few minutes for some exercises, perhaps while the meal is cooking or when the in-laws step out. Use a mat or a small piece of Pilates equipment for a brief workout to enhance circulation and realign your body. Below is a list of equipment available for purchase to support your Pilates practice at home.

  1. Gift Health to a Loved One

Strengthening bonds with loved ones can take many forms, including exercising together. Invite family and friends to join you for a workout, visit a local Pilates studio, or provide them with equipment for home use. We offer gift certificates for Pilates and wellness experiences at Pivot Pilates. Alternatively, consider purchasing a mat and toning balls from the list below so they can practice independently. Bringing a loved one to our studio for a class can introduce them to the benefits of Pilates and encourage their journey towards health.

Another option is to revisit the basics. Our YouTube channel offers a comprehensive collection of foundational exercises that serve as the core of most Pilates routines.
